Time Warner Cable Security offers a broad array of both residential and commercial security systems. The company will design a custom solution that may include intrusion detection, fire alarm systems, environmental systems monitoring (i.e.; temperature, water detection, carbon monoxide), medical alert, access control and entry systems, and CCTV (closed circuit) Surveillance Systems.

Once installed, a typical system is monitored 24 hours a day from a central monitoring station located in Central New York.

First rate monitoring starts with a quality installation, notes Security Operations Manager Marsha Vault. “We demonstrate functionality to ensure the customer is comfortable with system operation. We have a follow-up verification process to confirm all information, explain the standard procedures and answer any questions.”
Upon receipt of an alarm signal, the monitoring center goes into action immediately. Calling the customer (or other key-holder responsible for the premises), police and/or fire department are common responses to alarm activations. In addition, the customer can call the station any time 24/7 to schedule service, update account information and answers to billing questions. Remote access to your system allows the monitoring center to assist with system operation and diagnostics, potentially saving unnecessary truck rolls.

General Manager Kevin McCarthy recently announced that the monitoring center surpassed 30,000 subscribers. “We take pride in this milestone, and the efforts of all our employees that took part in its attainment.

“One of the main reasons for our success is the commitment of our exceptional employees. TWCS employees have an unmatched commitment to providing the best customer service experience.

Residential Security

A recent FBI Crime Report states that a home is burglarized every 12 seconds. That equates to one out of every six homes is being burglarized annually. Homes that have a security system are up to three times less likely to be burglarized. Fortunately, it is now easier than ever before to install a security system.

Today, many home security installations include the use of wireless technology. The installation process has never been more efficient and customer friendly, said McCarthy. A typical residential install used to average eight hours. The use of new technology has cut installation time in half. Each installation is customized based on the structure and the needs of the customer. Typical configurations include perimeter doors, window sensors and motion detectors in high traffic areas, explained Mike Murphy, Technical Manager for Service and Installation.

The company also offers a medical alert service. That means peace of mind for those who are responsible for the care of an elderly parent or other at-home family member. These “panic” pendants are worn by an individual and can summon medical and other needed assistance from anywhere in the home.

Commercial Clients

Murphy states that there are three main reasons why most commercial clients require security systems: loss prevention, safety for employees and building management and controls.

“TWCS Commercial Consultants engineer solutions around the scope and needs of your business, including any particular code requirements,” said Commercial Security Consultant Ed Valentine.

Business owners are enjoying and gaining new peace of mind, especially with their ability to have remote access to their place of business. Via laptop, with the use of the closed circuit cameras, they can view live what is happening at their facility. Was the parking lot plowed? Is the work going smoothly? Are the employees on track with projects? Is there an unexpected problem?
